Anyone seen the episode or know the episode number of road wars with this Mini on?

Apparently "This Mini was stopped by Thames Valley Police, it was in regular use but was only hanging together by threads.."

As always just because a car has an MOT does not mean it is fit for the road.

i seen that a few weeks ago, was shocked at the state of it! who would actually feel comfortable driving a car like that, minis are exactly safe when they are in decent condition!

ive seen the episode this mini was in, apparently some students were miles away from uni, and were going to miss an important lecture, so went to the scrap yard and paid £5 for this mini to get them to the uni, the police stopped them and ended up selling it back to a scrap man for £20 or something like that, the episode was on not to long ago, but has been repeated many times over the last few years, think it was recorded in the early 90s!

lectures aren't that important, I should know, I miss loads of them.
I have seen it, the headlights were hanging on by a thread!
no chance it was road legal. If it did have an MOT then they were very lenient!

Yeah 4.2 V8. its belongs to me but I mainly use it for business. Its useful having a nice'ish car to take Clients out in if and when the need arises.
Its off the road at the moment as it needs the ball joints done and the MOT was due. Will get it done as soon as I get the parts. Its annoying as its a useful car to have with this weather (being 4wd quattro)

As for the MOT, there are a few things that an MOT doesnt check for that still could meant the car isnt fit for the road. and even if a car has just passed an MOT, The buck still stops with the owner who is responsible for ensuring that their car is fit for the road. Its pretty much irrelevant anyhow if this car didnt have an MOT!

Yeah, things were easier to get away with in the 80 and 90s. Things only really got a lot tougher to get away with at the turn of the millennium.

Was it only me that was paranoid then ? I never dared run my car with any fault.

Mind you I pass an MOT on a monday and had the rear suspension snap on the tuesday (in a mk3 escort) You could see the rust in the crack about 3/4 of the way through, so I wasn't best pleased.
