And I’m sure you had a topic wanting to do a 16v head conversion.

Personally I’d be sorting out the rotten body first, but then I like to do things backwards.

ya relised how much they cost and how much machining the head block needs so just gonna stick with 100% mini engine and would like the block so i can slowly build it up while doing the body at the same time

Right this has gone slightly OT. But Danny your probably best going for a 1275 turbo. I had a convo with Prawn a while back and he knows about all these things. But its harder to get the compression down on a 1380. Not impossible though. Its your mini, your money and and your choice so do what you want. Have you been on Turbo Minis? If not I recommend you sign up. Some of the people on their will be able to give you some really good advice. Your best to have a full picture of what you want to do and whats the best parts for your build before to start spending money on things. You could also give Prawn a PM. He's a good chap and I'm sure he'll give you some advice. The other person that may be able to help you is mini mad69. He's planning on turboing his 1380 at some point.

Anyway I look forward to seeing what ever it is you do.

My brother built a 1380 turbo, about 9 years ago, machined a little off the crown on the top of the piston, and took the head out to 30cc or something, got the comp ratio down fairly low,
At the time i had a standard MG Turbo,F-reg, and to be honest i thought that it was imensly fast, but when he finished the 1380, it was a whole differnt thing!
really went well, before it got stolen.

it can be done, even easyer nowdays, with mappable ignition etc,

But i wouldnt do it as Decent 1275 blocks are running low on the ground, so if you go 1293,then 1330, then 1380,
thats only if you kill it first time around....
you can ,make the gains elsewhere....

I have a fresh MG Turbo block machined to 1380 with new pistons and rods. All caps present new CAM bearings - juist need a crank for a short engine (which I can supply)

How deep are your pockets?

See, i'd never have a block machined unless i know exactly what size pistons were going in, ie take the block and pistons to the machine shop and they will measure and Rebore the correct size,
Not all pistons, and bored blocks are equal.
