ive got, and im sure the majority of u also have a performance inlet manifold, but was just wondering what the benefits the "heated" part actually does, and what method of heating should be used?? water? air?
and how to do it and whether it is actually worth it?
Cheers guys

i believe the heated part is for easier running in cold whether, some vehicles have electric heaters in the manifold, but most just run from the cooling system, my old mk2 polo 1.05 had a 1.3 inlet and exhaust manifold, and i disconected the plumbing for the heater in summer, it ran lumpy when cold at tick over, but there was definate boost in power, due to cold air being denser. hope this helps

The heated manifold is to prevent carb icing in cold weather due to the inlet manifold not being connected to the exhaust manifold as per a standard setup.

But in this country you are unlikely to experience much icing so most people leave it disconnected to gain from the power increase of colder air.

My advice would be to plumb it in. The benefit of smoother running in winter is far out wieghed by any power loss that may or may not be aparrent in the summer.

I had the car RR with and without the water heating and made little difference, though ultimately the ambient temp was different so the power figures would be different any way.

Leave it off if you are dead set on finding every last 1/2bhp that the engine can produce but are quite happy with it running like cr&p in the winter months. Doesnt realy seem worth it, there are better ways of finding power in an engine.

leave it i reckon. i have justed fitted mine and didn't bother doing mine.

I figured that by bthe time i have messed around with it the weather will be turning for the better, and like people have said unless you leave in the antartic its not worth doing.

Ive got mine plumbed in now as i only did it as i needed to remove my heater for repairs so i thought id do it to fill the holes/pipes the heater uses so i dont lose all me water.
