Also, would one amp drive both, or would I ned two of those also? (I havent bought any amps yet, nor components for the front... still looking)

there is no real advantage having one or having two its just personal preference and the more bass you have the more components etc u will need to balance the sound.
you could get one amp to drive both but it would need to be powerful and probably expensive. i would say that jl probably do an amp that is matched for those subs so i would check their website.

The new W1 range of subs uses smaller enclosures.

Personally, I would put one in the biggest ported box you can fit in the boot

Personally i'd use 1 in a ported enclosure, i did one of these a few years back for a mate using a ported enclosure and it was astounding.

2.5cuft isn't easy in a Mini boot...unless you get clever with the design and drop the spare

at least then, when you run them in a ported box, it'd only need to be 1.25Cuft - which is less than if you used one in a SEALED box!
you could even use some wadding, to bring it down to 1Cuft, with ease

Also, with careful use of acoustic wadding, you can make the sub "think" that the space it's in is 1/3 bigger - but realisticly, it's better to think that the sub sees it as 1/4 bigger at most, unless you know exactly what you're doing.
My guesstimate was if it reduced the required volume by 1/5 - since I'm not entirely sure how it'd work in an isobaric setup, and wether it'd be as efficient at doing the same job if it was in another configuration

I've never been convinced of this myself.

I'm not sure if wadding can add as much as 1/3 to the perceived volume of the box...though I can't find any actual figures
Philster: it definitely does effect the way the sub behaves in a sealed box
