The only real benefits I see are that the soda doesn't damage glass, rubber etc in the slightest, but if you have a bare shell I think it's a waste of money! Only my opinion of course
it doesn't damage/mark metal when you use it, leaves a projective coating on the bare metal and generates minimal heat when using it so you don't get any heat distortion.

I'd never have flat panels blasted anyway, easy to take back with a DA sander, just get them to do round all the edges and the horrible backs covered in underseal etc, I've seen a car that was sand blasted all over and every door and big panel was warped to buggery, I know soda blasting shouldn't do that but I'd be happier doing it by hand anyway.

I found out that soda blasting also leaves an unreactive coat on the surface which you need to remove with some sort of acid else your paint won't stick properly.
you can just wash it off
