Mini Mayfair

I have a problem where only the sidelight on the drivers side works. The dipped beam does not work at all on either side.

The high beam works both as flash or clicked on. Rear lights work too. All indicators etc work. Bulbs are ok

Can't find a problem with fuses etc.

Any suggestions would be great. I'm ok with mechanics but electrics confuse the hell out of me.

Had problems with brake lights and indicators which are now sorted.....

Under the front panel where the bonnet catch is, there is a series of connerctors. these corrode causing badconnections. Clean them up and you'll have lights again, it might be easier to remove your grill too

Might also be a knackered Fuse, had same problem last week. Fuse box should be at the back of the Engine Bay, a small, black oblong box. The previous owner of my mini had put all wrong fuse sizes in. The correct order and size is as follows(thanks Kerrin):
Top-35 Amp(this is probably the culprit)
2nd-25 Amp
3rd-25 Amp
Bottom-15 Amp
Hope this helps.

Check the earth connection on the back of the light. I had the same problem, side light work but main beam was really dimm, wiggle the black wire & found a bad earth, once that was fixed, everything worked like it should

Right today's update:

Have checked and double checked everything and now I have the following:

Side lights
High beam (both clicked on and with the flash on the stalk)
indicators
Hazards
Rear lights

Turned out I only had one sidelight before as a bulb had blown (even though I'm sure I checked before)

I have No dipped beam at all. (even bought new bulbs today to double check)

I have checked all the wires at the front behind the grill which seem fine.

I think that the problem stems between the switch (which is all good as checked with a meter) and the main feed to the headlights. So am I missing a possible faulty relay?

I replaced the main feed by the grill and hooked that directly to live and the headlights worked.

Not sure if there is any other info I can provide but this is really puzzling me now!

Any help would be muchly appreciated!

Thanks

Darren
