well , i want to run that setup , so i need an amp to power it , so if it cost's im gonna have to pay :gimme:

6x9's =£60 pair
4" = £50 pair
6" sub = £90 quid each

then i know i will have to wire it all up , not to bothered about the head unit atm , as i can buy a decent one at a later date , i just want to get the bulk of it done

also im on £150 quid a week as an apprentice

cheers pbrain , well would that run all 4 speakers , and both subs ? with it being a 5 channel :S , sorry i dont have a clue where to start really , and do you think the speakers could be over kill? defently want to keep the subs

or would it be better if i run 2 amps ? , one for the speakers and one for he subs , and then bridge 2 channels together for each sub ? , also i dont think i can stretch that much really for an amp , could do with something abit cheaper :gimme: , as i have to pay boared , then fuel money , contract , e.t.c

i was intending on haveing 2 batteries stacked on tp of eachother in the boot , and then possibley the same with amps , have them stacked or one on each side as i was planing have the tank enclosed as well as the batteries

just read the specs on the subs and it says it recommends about 75w RMS to be best

to be honest that is a bargain for the DLS, it's a top quality amp....you could save a few quid and buy a couple of 'cheap' amps, but i would rather get this amp and save for the speakers which you can get anytime.

Also 'the loudest.com' sell some seriously over-rated stuff. 1000w 6x9's? yet a review said that they was good and was powered perfectly by his head-unit (which a typical 4x50w HU is really 4x18wRMS typically)

That DLS will do the job really well & look the dog's (taking less space than 2 amps a well)

as i mentioned, if i had the spare cash i would snap it up and use in my next car...no doubts.

i havent got the money atm as i need pay my dad back :)

its a 5 channel though isnt it? so how would i power 6 speakers? as i thoguht you need a channel per speaker , or like 2 channels for a speaker ?

sorry for all the question dont know much about car audio :P

that amps sold now :lol: , but with you saying the loudest stuff is over rated , could you recommend any speakers , that wont cost the earth but are realisably loud, as if im going to install it all , i want do it right first time , as i want to get the inside of it done , then front spots , the engine. also do you know of any high output alternators , as i was intending on have 4 spot lights at 100w ea and that takes up 33 amps , then the subs at 75w each is 12.5 amps so just them its 45.5 amps , and that's without anything else , i am intending on having 2 batteries though , cheers for all the help pbrain

buy a 600w 2 channel for the subs, and a 4 channel 400w will do you plenty

...just for the record, that amp (and similar 5 channel amps) the 5th channel (or sub channel) normally operate down to 2ohms. This allows for a pair of 4ohm speakers to be connected to 1 channel. I prefer using mono output for sub-bass, this keeps the speakers in phase a lot better/easier.

The most common alternator upgrade is the Pug Diesel type which should suffice in most needs. The only reason i went for a 150amp model was the 7,000+ watts of amplifier. (even this alternator only provided a 20% duty cycle)

If you're on a budget...just get a single amplifier to do your subs.

Don't get silly watt, mid-range speakers....i prefer component speakers (round 3" up to 6" and a separate tweeter). They really needn't be more than 100w (max). Big speakers 300-1000w will just soak up the power, you want the speaker to match the amp (or HU) more or less.
Using a decent HU, you can set the internal cross-over, so that the head-unit only outputs a high-pass sound. depending on your sub, you set the cross-over frequency, in normal set-ups i tend to go with a 80-125hz (your ears will let you know whats best). I have the midrange (or HU) speakers doing a small amount of bass, this allows the coil to move somewhat and cool better. because your HU speakers are not trying to produce deep bass, these can be made to go considerable louder without damage or distortion.
The RCA (or phono) output on the HU should be set as a low-pass and sent to the sub-bass amp.

basically all you want is 2 pairs of mid/top speakers (ie 4" for front & 5" for rear), sub-bass amp, bass driver(s) & a half-decent HU.

Trust me, set-up right it will sound fantastic & more than loud enough for most people.
