if you prep up the shellp for them if usualy best... if you can get the time literally strip the whole car out sand it back clean it and primer it then they can just get it in and out in a couple of days and wont cost much as they dont have to mask much up

Thanks for all the replies! I see Minis going for 1300 on ebay and that have nice chrome work, good paint job etc. Too me it doesn't seem a worth while investment.

As Ive said before..
Insurance will allow 40 hours for a repaint with minor amounts of damage around the car for example, if its been keyed on most panels.
Our labour rate is £28 per hour and Ive not seen another bodyshop under £25 per hour.
£25 x 40 hours = £1000.
Now add vat for the majority of shops. £1200.
Now think about the amount of welding, fabrication and extra prep it takes to do a classic..
If you get a nice job around the £1500, you have done very well.
Bodyshops have alot of over head costs. Were not trying to rip anybody off, most of us are covering costs and trying to make a living.
