Hi, i have decided to fit a stage 1 kit to my 1990 mini, i have settle on a minispares kit with an RC40 exhaust.

my question is how loud is a single box system? is it really as bad as people make out?

my mini is used daily so i dont want to go stupidly loud but some noise would be nice!

anyone fitted either single or twin box minispares kit? any comments/advice are apreciated

thanks

Sean

Thats my maniflow twin exit single box system, RC40's tend to be a little quieter.

A twin-box RC40 is not too noisy on a 1275. I use that on my rally car (and on my '73 Innocenti 1300) and it passes srutineering noise tests OK.
For the 998 a single box RC40 is also OK.
The twin-box Maniflow is a bit noisier, but better made and will last longer.

thanks i did forget to mention its 998 not 1275, i have looked at maniflow but the price of the minispares RC40 kits is appealing compared to the maniflow exhausts plus both manifolds, (got standard manifolds at the minute).

Even a single box RC40 isn't particularly loud (so long as you stick with the standard bore size) But if you are concerned then a twin box system will keep any increase in noise to a minimum. An RC40 will definitely give a different tone to the standard exhaust, but certainly nothing that I would describe as "bad". In my experience the real noise associated with a stage 1 kit, tends to be a due to the use of a "cone" air filter, as opposed to a high flow element in the existing air filter housing/box!

thanks mate, i am sticking with the high flow filter not the cone, i think im going to go with the single box im not too worried about noise just dont want to go sillily (could be a word) over top, i just need to get rid off the standard exhaust.
