About custom consoles dash and centre console.

Had mine about 6 months or so now, (sincle himley earlier last year)
And for the first few months it was top notch, but its gone seriously downhill fast.

The dashboard doesnt fit tight to the dash rails, the middle lower bracket snapped out the one day, wood and everything.
You cant really read the clocks properly without going down to its level.
And its kindve curved outwards, due to the non secure problem.

The centre console itself is great, but the material they make the sides from (also the same as the front of the dash) is pathetic.
Im VERY careful about damaging the side with my clutch foot, but in the past 2 months its almost worn a hole right through the side, having bits of what looks like bog roll all over my carpet, and it looks a complete mess.

The vinyl itself they use is good quality stuff, its just daft things like these that let them down. A dash and centre console, in a car that gets looked after, and does less than 30miles per week, shouldnt be in this condition. (not a trailer queen either)

Anybody else found this? i hope it aint just me.

I've seen this happen with los of dashes, not just custom consoles ones. I bought a genuine rover one off ebay and stripped and painted it, cost me about the same as a custom consoles one but I've had it for ages and it's straight and true!

I've had my centre console from custom consoles for over three years now, i had the sides covered with blue vinyl to match my carpets & it still looks brand new.

as above my centre console still looks brand new after 18months, theres only the slightest wear on the side where my clutch foot goes.
its been in and out loads of times so i can mess with me stereo and its still fine.

i was going to buy a wooden dash, then borrowed one off a mate to make a template, he'd used it in his mini and it had warped right out of shape.
they really arent worth the money imo, especially when the rrp is £80+ and a F/G one is like £30-50.
hence why now im going down the fibreglass route.

I've had my custom console centre console for about 20,000 miles now, and it has worn through next to the clutch pedal, so is now patched up with duct tape. DOesn't look too bad now, though.

Unfortunately I made the mistake of letting big people drive my car  . My size 5s wouldn't have done this damage!

I'd contact them if I were you & give them a chance to put it right, (especially if you have only had the dash & console 6 months) when ever I have contacted them over the years they are only too keen to help.
