Hi Chris,
The socket is under the dash, near the steering column. I forget exactly where, but in this area.
Ryan.

Found this - diagnostic location is under the dash, to the right of the heater knob. Looks like 16-pin (way more than 3)

MPI - under dash between column and heater. 16 Pin
SPI - under bonnet near master cylinders - loose lead with 3 pin connector.

The Crypton ACT ASC3 only does Rover SPi and early MPi systems on the Rover Mini/ Metro/ Montego/ 100/ 200/ 400/ 800 series with MEMS, with the round three pin serial port connector, not the 16pin 'OBD' connector. The later Crypton ACTII will work with the MPi Mini, but this will need the correct application card and cable.

Thanks everyone for the location details of the 16 pin diagnostic plug on the MPI Mini Cooper, found it now! Stage 2 trying it with an Autel Code Reader featured in this months (Feb 2011) Car Mechanics to see what data I can use to sort out emmisions! Let you know how I get on in due course! >_<

If you get stuck let me know the cable code and I'll see if I have one, (I seem to have loads of old cables for these!)

Note that none of the minis are OBD compliant so you wont get far with an OBD reader...

Oh I see, better hold fire then, the Autel Web site says it reads Mini's from 93 to 99! Would be graet if someone on the forum has managed to use one!

I've emailed AUtel as on there site says Rover Mini's. I've told them that its Rover Mems System. If they havant tried it themselves it would be best to remove the claim from their advertizing. I'll await there response, and update this thread
