Hi,
The 1275 ticks over fine when not going anywhere but I have noticed it will stall if i change gear a bit slow or put clutch in to coast at all even when changing to reverse. Is it likely it is running a bit week. I'm on the isle of man so no rolling road!
Thanks

This can be cause by a number of things.. Cracked hoses, damaged canister, faulty thermostatic vacuum valve. although i dont think it would only happen if you depress the clutch pedal

is there a judder as clutch is engaged?

check your mixture strength!! common one! as i said dont know if this would only happen when depressing clutch pedal.

let me know :(

There is no judder when i press the clutch in, it may not happen to have anything to do with the clutch guess the only way to test this is to just knock it out of gear, but like i say it ticks over fine when its settled. I will get it running a bit richer and try that?

is there oil in the dash pot of the carb?
Have you tried pulling the choke out and seeing if that changes anything?
that could help you determine if it's a fuelling issue, which it sounds as if it could be!

There is oil in the dashpot I will try pulling the choke out however it does rev a fair bit with the choke, o the engine does the staling thing when its cold and warm but i notice it more when its warm prob cause the choke is back in

the other thing i'd look at is to make sure the little advance/retard vacuum hose is still going from your distributor to your carb.
they can quite easily be pulled off with out noticing and cause some funny running issues

Well i drove her today but i left the choke out just under quarter of an inch and I had no problems, so i take it that means it's running a bit weak?

No it means you're revving the engine to overcome the problem...

So, if you're stationary, the car is idling perfectly happily, you press the clutch and it stalls... ?

What makes you think it's a problem with the mixture ?

If the above is true, then there's a couple of possibles.... the clutch release bearing is seized which stalling the engine, but this would normally be accompanied by a high pitched squeal, or your crank thrust bearings are ******* and the friction being applied to the crank by disengaging the clutch is stopping the engine...

To check the crank end float, when the engine is off, push the crank using a suitable lever from the pulley end, then with the aid of an assistant and a DTI, measure how much the crank moves laterally when the clutch is pressed..

The clutch isn't making it stall sorry if i made it sound like that. It is when you have the throttle on then take your foot off it the revs drop stalls or nearly then picks up again to norm. I just tryed it and it only does it when lights/heater are on. So i take it it will just be the strain from the alt?? Thanks
