I have an automatic 1973 Austin Mini and i want to be able to attatch a sat nav and an in car phone charger.
Opposite the choke i have a similar looking stalk with a flame on it however it doesnt work as a lighter and i have been told it is just for show. can i have a lighter fitted there or in any other way?
Im grateful for any help! still relativley new to the mini fun! (and driving / cars in general)

Search for Cigarette Lighter on the forum, lots of people have fitted them, I think they are relatively simple to fit  The 'stalk with a flame' is the temperature for the heater, pull if out for cool air, leave it in for hot - took me ages to work out what is was too at first :L Most people have the Cigarette Lighters fitted in a centre console, or under the dash somewhere :) I'm quite new to all this as well, so your best bet is to search the forum!

Hope that helped a bit :(

If you do a search on e-bay you can pick up a simple holder to slot a ciggy lighter socket into and screw it to the underside of the dash.

And I have mine wired from a spare terminal on no5, second from the bottom left, light green/white wires on the fuse box with a 10amp fuse to the lighter socket.

The way I’ve wired mine means it’s only live when the key is in the ignition, so there are no worries of it draining the battery or something still being live when left plugged in.

Yes you can have one fitted, and the knob with the flame on, is the heater control cable, it controls the flow of hot water to the heater.

as for placement, youre best off buying a bracket for 12v sockets, and placing it underneath the dash on the passenger side

I hardwired a plug in socket into my car with a switch next to it, its in the centre console now though, the RING range of 12v sockets have little tabs that pull out you can use for screwing the socket to something
