Ok Ok,  :teehee:

I have ignored this problem for long enough now. The rear subframe front bolts (that face toward the sill) is the issue.

The top one on the nearside is turning (I am guessing there is a nut welded to the inside. What is the best way to access this? Is it through the rear bins? Or through the sill. I know I will have to cut a hole somewhere, but I can't see which is the best way and wonder if anyone has experienced this before? Now is the time to do it, as I have some time off work and am working on the rear tomorrow again.

Had this before on my clubby. I had to bend a peice of metal upward inside in the rear bin, then you can just get to them. I stuck a pair of mole grips on the nut whilst I untightened it from the outside.

Not really, unless you want to cut out the metal floor of your rear bin (if you have one) apparently it just stops thinks from falling into the sill.

Ok, cheers Jammy, I'll have another butchers at it tomorrow.

I was gonna go through the sill with a small cutting disc to keep it neat, but thought I'd post it on here first!

sadlly some cutting is involved, unless you are removing the sill that is.

the nut is captavated the only way to fix it is with the sill off..

best way i find is to drill loads of little holes around the edge of teh inside bin, and bend it out of the way, then you can bend it back into place when you have finished.

Yeah, Barry is saying that you can do it without removing the sill, but by cutting the metal in the bottom of the bin and bending it up.

Unless you are taking the sill off anyway!

Oh well, I'll get the drill out tomorrow!

Cheers guys

is the subframe on the car? if not then it can be repaired without cutting

as for reaching these without cutting the only way u can if the inner part of the rear bin is rotten.

i can easily whip the subby off (by cutting the offending bolt off). How would I do it without getting access to the turning nut though??

hi i had a similar problem on my brothers mini but the bolt actually sheared off instead of spinning. it sheard off flush and i tried everything from easy outs to drilling and re tapping but in the end i cut a small square out of the sill at the end andwelded a new nut on and have had no problems as yet and he has been driving it every day for the last year with no problems

well, it's out! I did it the Jammy way (actually the Cowboy way too, no pun intended). Just need to fold back the metal and re-weld it together now!

Cheers for the help guys!
