a auto gear box is bigger than a manual and as sump guards are a rally thing they are designed for a manual box

post some pictures up and someone might think of a solution

I've ever only fitted a sump guard to rally cars and would never use an auto for competition. If you are in danger of hitting the sump, why not just raise the suspension to get a bit more ground clearance?

If you are determined to fit it - then you'll have to make up suitable spacers to 'lower' the sumpguard down so it clears the auto box.

i noticed this on a friends auto and at first i was confused as to why i could see the sump from in front of the car even with the reg plate on.

the sump hangs much lower down. you sump guard will become a connector for a scale-electrix car.

you'll have you mini riding really high.

I no that's the reason I want to put it on due to how low it is because speed bumps seem to scrape it ;)

Well - the guard will REALLY hit the bumps. You could end up 'stranded' with the tyres off the ground. ;) As others have suggested - raise the suspension, and perhaps fit larger diameter wheels/tyres ?

This isn't a common problem with automatics - they're usually OK with speed bumps. As has been said adding a sump guard could make the situation worse.

Has your mini been lowered in some way? If it has then it probably needs to be lifted a little. If not then I would say that you need to look at the suspension for wear.

I have a customer who rallies an automatic...... it is something you have to endure if you want a sump guard.... the chances are that it is lower than standard due to sagging doughnuts on your suspension.
