Basicaly Im in the process of building my mini up, currently its going back standard but i wish in future to inject it (been looking at the canems system)

they use MPI manifold/throttle boddies for the system, but of course they require the higher amount of pressure than the standard pump can produce.

my question is, being that i only have 1 fuel line running from front to back on my car, i was thinking that i could use that 1 line, fit a high pressure pump on the bulkhead or similar, and then T in the return prior to the pump rather than back into the tank. Is this possible? or will it be easyer to just run a new pipe under the car (droping subframes ect). and is there a pump that will produce the pressure needed and be an aftermarket fit?

i understand that with the pressure developed that i would need to make proper nut unions and better pipes for the extra pressure.

also what is the return pressure like? is it high or just a couple of psi???

Thanks

Azman

Where were you going to mount the pump? I think injection type pumps might struggle to self prime if they're not low enough. You can tee the return in to the line before the pump but, again, you have to think about priming as you'll be creating a loop that will feed itself without drawing on the line. If you use a carb, you'll need a pressure regulator, a la Metty Turbo. The turbo pump is external fitting & should do - there are plenty of others, see if you can find an online catalogue from Bosch etc.

Return pressure should be very low, as it's an open pipe at the other end.

I was planning on mounting it on the bulkhead in similar position to the current facet pump i have fitted. Good point about the priming, maybe a one way valve in the line somwhere then, probably on the rear subframe (this would leave fuel in the pipe to aid priming) and providing there are no air leaks in the system this should help reduce the need for too much of a prime.

What sort of pressure am i looking for? 40-50psi ish?

I think it will have to be lower than the fuel level in the tank.

Pump maximum pressure at 16V . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.7 bar
Regulated injection pressure range . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1.0 to 3.0 bar ± 0.2 bar
