hi

just wondering what peoples views were on a good diff for a high power 1380

been looking about and allways liked the quaife stuff but wondered has anyone used one/got one in their mini and what there views on it were regards too

against performance and cost being justified over other diff's

the car will be getting thrashed as whats the point in having lots of power and not using it!! :ermm:

but it needs too be put down propperly so just wondered if you guys could help me make my mind up

It's the only lsd that will fit a standard crown wheel, the others will compromise your choice of final drive ratios.

Are asking about LSD (Limited Slip Diff) or ATB (Automatic Torque Biasing) they are not the same.......

An LSD can be a struggle on the road

There are no LSD's that will fit a standard crown wheel only the ATB.

Either of these devices will place more load and wear on your driveshaft components.

I've got a quaife ATB in mine and I really like it, you can defiantly feel the difference,

before it was in there in tight corners it was a bit too easy to light up the inside wheel on tight corners when it came on boost,

great in the snow too,

Its not a true LSD no, so not sure what your intentions are with it but if you actualy lift a wheel in the corner you will still loose traction apparently

I've had an ATB on another car. I don't know if the characteristics will be the same on a Mini, but it can be a bit snappy. I know in some circles it as been nicknamed 'the ditch finder'.

That depends on the pre-loads for instance the RS Focus had no pre-loads when it first had an ATB fitted...... and this made it snappy and also meant it weaved under acceleration on poor surfaces
