Hi,
I bought my mini in August and i have been renovating it since, but nearly finnished. I havent taken it out on the roads yet so the underside is clean and the previous owner has painted it, but i want to propely underseal it. I thought its best to underseal before I take it onto the road. I jut want to know what the best way to underseal it with. How many coats i should do and how to apply?
I woud be grateful if someone could help
Thanks

Hey,
I did mine using hammerite waxoyl, it comes in either a paint can or a large can with a spray unit. I used the large can with the spray unti as you can get into all the nooks and crannies. although it is quite difficult even when you jack the car up, best if you can use a pit or proper car ramps so you properly coat the underside. check out the following link:

this stuff is available from Halfords or any decent motor factors.

Can you use waxoyl in electric compressor with spray guns? And would I just use waxoyl under the car?

Hi bounce,
In a word... no. You cannot use an air gun for sprayng waxol, but what you can use is a body schults spray gun.
My recommendation would be to spray the under side of the mini with a good quality stone chip resistant paint. Available in black, grey or white and can be over painted with body colour.
Why use Waxol? - In my experience it's not all that good. I think that Dynitrol is the best product available at the moment and can be sprayed with a body schults gun. If this all sounds like too much trouble, you can purchase dynitrol to spray directly onto your existing finish. Talk to your local paint shop about the different Dynitrol products availabe. You will also want to spray the cavities with cavity wax. You can purchase a flexible wand to attach to the schults gun. Don't get a 10mm width wand, this seems to be the standard size, they're too wide to enter the sill. Plastic padding do an excellent schults gun and wand under 10mm at about £30.
And this will last years...
Hope this is of help
Let me know of your decision or if i can be of any further help

I used both shutz and stonechip, the bonus of stonechip is you can spray over it... and shutz is a little softer ( you can't paint over it ) but is dry to the touch so you don't gat covered in waxoyl when you're under the car...
Havn't used waxoyl in years...
But you will need a shutz gun and a compressor.

The Waxoyl I used is done through a supplied nozzle which is pressurised through a pump which is hand pumped direct into the tin.
I guess whichever method is used is better than leaving the car to rot.

leave a sheet of tin outside and see how long it takes to perferate, then get another bit cover it in hammerite and another bit and cover it in under seal. then throw some stones at it presure wash it leave it a couple of yrs and see what the results are, u may be shocked, my veiw is paint it with paint and a swuirt of waxoyl in the box sections etc, and keep it clean
