Hey guys,

I'm currently in the process of doing the mk1 fiesta brake conversion.

Now, I have mk1 fiesta calipers and have been told the standard brake hoses on my 1990 mayfair 998 will fit these calipers. Is this correct or do I need to have some made?

Thanks.

NO - they will NOT . The Fiesta caliper is M10 X 1 - I used Fiesta hoses - led them upwards (as they are on a Fiesta) and then simply re-routed the steel pipe to connect to them - with suitable M10 X 1 connection on the end. I also moved the front dampers to the rear of the mounts - just swop them side to side, and turn the pin round on the top arm. This keeps the damper well out of the way. I have some pics if that helps ?

I had mine made up by local hydraulic company, fiesta metric ends for the caliper, with a mini imperial end to mount to the subframe same as they mount originally
These offer a service to make up custom hoses too

mine are mini one end and a 10mm banjo fitting on the other, i had the caliper machined for a good seal,

this way, no moving dampers, no long wavy hose and its much tidier.

Thanks for your help so far guys.

Could someone just check these are the right fittings I need?

This is for the mini bulkhead (female swivel nut 3/8 UNF):

This is for the fiesta caliper (male swivel nut m10x1):

A special press puts a crimp on the end of the pipe.

Either way, would they be the fittings I'm looking for?

I did this conversion a few years back and confirm the mini to metro conversion hoses work fine, but if you use the ones in your pics for the mini end at the subframe you need a proper bulkhed fitting

I thought metro were imperial too?
I too a mini hose, and what was left of the festa hose. I asked them for that end, on that length of hose, with that on the other. A cup of tea, 10 mins and £20 squids later, i had new hoses that i knew would fit.

If you try to feed them up through the subby as per original Mini practice - there is a very tight S bend in the flexi hose - not good!

Where is that Roy? Not saying it doesn't happen on them but mine didn't
