hi, i've bought a luminition mega spark coil(the blue one) with the resisitor, and i was going to fit it to my 1993 mini tahiti today but came across a problem,

normally on the coils i've seen on a mini it just has one obvious live and the obvious earth to and from the coil, (and to the dizzy) but mine has double of everything, with the same correctly coloured wires to it, so my question is, do i put the resisitor in series with one set of these wires, or do i put both sets through? hopefully someone will understand what im trying to ask >_<

thanks

nick

You need to create a new ignition circuit and include the new resistor in it. The existing bypass wire (white/yellow) might be usable if the coil is happy to have the ballast bypassed for cranking (ballast systems should be bypassed under cranking but check the coil spec) but the pink/white is no good and should be carefully insulated and taped back to the loom safely. Both the negative cables should be connected. Incidentally, there are no earths to the coil. An earth at the coil would stop the ignition working entirely. The connections to the negative terminal are LT (to the dizzy switch gear) and the feed to the tacho.
