I am not sure what is up with my rear brakes. I replaced the radius arms, brake flexi hoses, cylinders, shoes, adjusters, and wheel bearings a month ago. if i adjust the shoes so the wheel locks, then back off a few turns the brakes are good > then some miles later i have to pump the pedal to get pressure. the reservoir is full of fluid, no leaks and i've bled every corner twice. The only thing i can think of is i've put in the wrong wheel cylinders - , i've read there's many different types. has anyone else done this and had funny brakes like me?? (1987 disc brakes mini)

brake adjustment a few turn off from locking up, normally i do the adjuster till the shoes are rubbing but my guess is the master cylinder may be shot

if you can push you foot to the floor then the master cyliners bugged. or could have C**p in the soild bits of the break lines.

As you have replaced the brake flexi hoses, cylinders, shoes, adjusters a month ago
And
Which is fine
Try to inspect the flexi hoses while someone is holding the pedal down
WHY?
Well when they are under pressure any holes would expand just enough to leak
And be easier to find
Or it could be a lose connection
Then apply the handbrake and pump the pedal a few times and hold it down
IF it slowly drops to the floor the seals in the master cylinder have gone
Normally, if you get reduced braking effort in a mini and the handbrake is c**p
Try re-adjusting the rear brakes
As on a mini they are the non-self adjusting type

If you have air in the system and find no leakesthen some miles later i have to pump the pedal to get pressure
