Hi,

I recently changed my choke cable as the other one snapped, but fitted the wrong one (without the locking on it) so my partner bought a new one from mini sport, with a locking function, and the racket lock type thing on the end.

The problem I am having is the locking system is too large for me to put the retaining Nut and washer on to keep the choke in place on the dash board.

Am I missing something, as I'm getting quite confused.

(I know nothing about cars, all I have is my trusty haynes!)

Thanks in advance, is getting cold outside!

The ratchet type choke cable and the twist type choke cable are not intechangeable. To fit the ratchet type choke cable to a car that was built with the twist type you will need to replace or modify the switch panel, replace the switch panel bracket (and possibly the nut securing it to the dash) and obtain the retaining clip that holds this type of choke cable to the bracket, as it does not use the large nut and washers of the earlier type.

with the twist and lock it has a nut behind the switch pannel to hold it on place and its circled

with the ratchet one its like a half moon shape where its fits into the switch pannel and has a clip thing behind the switch pannel to hold it in place

it depends on your switch pannel

and i have lost the clip 4 the ratchet one, so i just have to stick to the twist and lock, but its really just pull it in and out :L and the mole grips
