Hello people,

ok i cheacked my car's oil today and it was a little bit above min so i though "be aright for today then" and when to my dad's. i left the paper towel i used in my car (normaly chuck them in the bin when i do the oil) got to my dad's stayed for an hour or so then got back in the car. I noticed a wiff of pertol. i did have a problem with the smell before (turns out the little pipe wasn't going into the rubber gromet on the floor) which i fixed. i found out the paper towel smelt of pertol. got home and cheacked the oil again. it still smelt of petrol. took the oily paper towel to my mum who also said it smelled of petrol.

So after that storie. what the hells wrong with my car. how the hell is petrol getting in my oil. i was going to chang the oil anyway soon as its a bit black but now i'm a bit scared my car's going to exsplode. what do i do!!!!

thanks

i got an electric thing i think. well the only petrol pipes connected to the engine are the one that connects to the carb. i think my pertrol pump is this little round ting connected to the cars firewall below the manifold.

I think you'll find it's conencted to the engine, all other pumps are either in the tank (MPI and maybe SPI) or on the rear subframe, 60/70's cooper..

Unless what you think is a pump is a fuel filter ?

i would say that if it is that age it has a mechanical pump on it. Unless you have had it upgraded.

The fuel pump is attached to the back of the engine.
