I am fitting a 2-piece FG front to my mini.
I am in need of a bit of advise about fitting the front end, I already have these bonnet pins to use at the rear of the bonnet ... http://www.minispare...=...5010&title=
I don't really want to use pins at the front, what I want to do at the front, is use some sort of dowel on the underside of the bonnet,, which slides through rubber grommets in the triangular bits of the front end. Is this possible? What sort of material would I use for the dowels?
Thanks Steve.

Well I did that (many years ago) and then one wet day it fell off going through a deep puddle and I ran over it......... Fortunately I was towing my racer behind on a trailer - so I was able to stick the chewed up front into the racer and continue home - frontless........... Moral of the story - make sure it's very secure.

Are you using a lip on the bonnet?
A coach bolt with a nut securing it behind the bonnet lip, this will sit behind the lip and out of sight
cut it so it has plenty stuck through so it cannot vibrate, pull out or move from wind pressure. If it gets the slightest back draft from a lorry, it will be off and over the roof quicker than you could blink. It wants securing with pins ideally

I will probably be using a lip.
So I should just go for four pins then?

I think this could be made to work. as long as the 'dowells' are sufficiently long and stiff then unless they break off it should stay in place.
I think a rod on a spreader plate glassed in place would work.
