It became part of my childhood motor racing memories, like walking to my Grandmas for tea past the Ecurie Ecosse garage in Merchison Mews.

I always think the best Mini ad was the young lady sitting in her Mini looking sad with the caption "When everything else goes wrong your Mini will still love you", or the 1960's somewhat cynical ad: "Mini motoring is fun & trouble free" (On yeah, especially when it rains hard, the car leaks and the ignition shorts out!!)

Seemed logical that my first car would be a mini, as we had the tools, knowhow and garages full of spares to keep it on the road for next to no money, haven't looked back, but I have certainly spent more money!!

I past my test in 99, took my mum's Volvo out for my first solo drive. Stalled 6 yards from the house and completely lost my bottle to drive. At all.
10 years later, I went to a friend's stag do and he had go-karting. I wasn't looking forward to it after my one previous experience of go-karting.
I LOVED IT.
And as they always said Minis were like go-karts I thought it was time I should try it out.
Bought one without test driving it myself (missus did though) and I loved it.
Am now in a permanent state of bafflement over why anyone would drive anything else.

That's often what I think when I've been out for a blast in one of my Minis, Then I get back in my 2.5 litre BMW 3-series and I know the answer!
