I need to replace the bracket for the top stabiliser bar on my '89 mayfair so I threaded myself around inside the car, moved the heater and removed the split pin and clevis pin from the clutch pedal. Question is, is the clevis pin meant to look like this?

The pedal has always had a bit of movement at the top where it actually does nothing, this is now clearly because the hole in the pedal is larger than the clevis pin, is it the hole in the pedal thats worn larger or is this pin meant to be straight across and mine is severly worn in the middle?

Next I moved onto the brake pedal, the haynes book of lies says this should be the same as the clutch pedal. But in the picture below you can just about see (hopefully!) that there isnt a split pin and clevis pin but some sort of other what looks like immovable pin!! How are you meant to remove this? Or Am I missing something stupidly obvious :D

Any help would be much appreciated, I need to get the car back on the road ASAP as I normally use it for my near 40 mile daily commute and my mates Vauxhall Corsa isn't doing my reputation any good!

Thanks

I removed my pedal box the other day and my clevis pin was straight.

As for the brake pedal, you can't take that arm off, You just unbolt it from the servo

Steve.

Thanks Steve, I've unbolted it from the servo but couldn't seem to get the bracket over the end of the arm due to the clevis for the servo not fitting through the hole. Guess I should be wiggling it more maybe...

Also guess I'll have to get a new clevis pin for the clutch, amazing it could have worn so much, the previous owner must've LOVED using the clutch!! :D

Looks like this is the cause of your dead spot in the clutch pedal then!

Thanks everyone, anyone ever seen on so worn as this before? I know the mini is now 22 years old and has done nearly 134,000 miles but still seems excessive wear!

MRA Minis do you do the gasket between the master cylinder and bracket as well as I better replace this at the same time, cant find it on your site though.
