Hi
Could anyone tell me what the correct tappet clearance is for a 1990 998 mini engine please. Just about to check mine but can't find my Haynes manual!
Thanks for any help.

12thou or 0.30mm
on all engines unless modifyed with none standerd rockers and so on
Quick way to cheak the tappet/valve/rocker clearance is to:
Roatate the crank until no.1 cylinder is at TDC on comprestion both valves closed.
Now cheak.
cyl no.1 Inlet and exhuast valves
cyl no.2 Inlet valve
cyl no.3 exhuast valve
Now rotate the crank unlit cylinder no.4 is at TDC on comprestion both valves closed.
Now cheak.
cyl no.4 Inlet and Exhuast valves
cyl no.3 Inlet valve
cyl no.2 Exhuast valve
Have fun

12 thou inlet and exhaust on a cold engine. I always use adjust the one opposite to the one fully open, for example if valve 8 fully open ill adjust no.1, valve 3 fully open ill adjust number 6. Great fun on straight 8 cylinder engines, lol.
