Hi there guys. Was just wondering, if anyone had ever put, or had heard of anyone putting, the 4A-GE (16-valve) engine from the Toyota MR2 mk1 in a mini? I have a mini and a MR2, and the MR2 mechanicals are top notch but the bodywork is succumbing to metal worm. Was wondering if it was atall feasable to marry the two together? I mean theyre widths are only 10inches apart, 5inch arches each side doesnt seem too bad?

Joining the Army in 10 days as an Engineer. So once i come back the MR2 will be pretty much dead bodywrok wise i expect.

Silly idea I expect, still... its tempting

Also have a look on the aussie mini site. Quite a common conversion there I believe.

Yeah its a big conversion in aus the Mr2 engine is. They are also huge fans of the Toyota starlet Gaza turbo engine into the mini, giving about 150 ish brake from a little 1.3

currently starting a project to put a mk1 mr2 16 valve engine in. luckily for me my dads friend races a mk1 mr2 and also used to build engines for lotus f1 team and runs a garage specialising in putting any engine in any car
from what i know hes gona cut the bulk head back and fit the engine in the front maybe tilt it a little for it to fit but he has assured me that with a clubby front it will have enough room.
