You better off only keeping the disks, flanges and callipers from the metro set up and using them on a standard 8.4” mini brake set up. So that will be new disk (8.4”) hubs and cv joints and the metro braded conversion hoses.

Also as the front will now be 2 and a bit inches wider over the drum set up, the rear will need the later drums with the 1” built in spacer and longer wheel studs fitting.

oh rite ok so i might as well buy a set of 8.4" disk brakes and transfer parts over?

That would be the quickest and easiest way, yes. As when the metro hubs are used with standard mini suspension arms completely mess with the geometry and ruin the handling.

They can be used but only after changing all the bottom arms and tie bars to adjustable items and then having everything properly set up.

You say you bought a complete brake set, but did that include hoses? I had the 8.4" vented discs on my 1979 Mini and I seem to remember that it needed some different setup with the brake lines. I'm sure someone will be able to describe it better than me, but I thought I'd mention it.

And the vented discs are really good by the way! Mine always stopped dead and never locked up, using 6X12 Revolutions and good Yoko tyres.

If the metro set up came directly off a metro the hoses will be useless anyways and won’t work on the minis set-up.

Yes you will need specific Metro conversion front flexi hoses and ERA Turbo caliper mounting bolts to fit the calipers to the hubs.

What exactly did you get from the Metro? and we are talking Austin Metro and not Rover Metro aren't we?

Disc braked hubs are different from the drum braked ones so you will need a set of hubs. Metro ones can be used but they mess with the geometry and you need early Metro ball-joints fitted as the later Metro ball-joints are a different taper to the Mini suspension arms. Metro 4-pot brakes bolt onto Min disc braked hubs no problems with the correct bolts so ideally you want a set of Mini disc braked hubs.

The CV joint is different between disc and drum brakes but will go on the end of your existing drivehaft.

The brake hoses will need to be looked at. Metro 4-pots will need a spcial adapter hose set. Mini disc brake will need the correct hose as the drum braked ones are too long (although they will physically fit the brakes they run the risk of fouling on stuff as the steering is turned).

To use Metro vented (and from memory solid) discs with the Metro 4-pots you will need to use the Metro drive-flanges. To use Mini solid discs you need the Mini drive-flange.

Obviously you need a set of calipers.

In addition to all this you might as well budget to replace the wheel-bearings whilst you are in there and it's probably worth a new set of ball-joints on the Mini hubs as a matter of course whilst they are off. Jobs like this can rapidly snowball as you decide to just pull that one extra bit off to clean/paint and fit new bearings/bushes/whatever.
