depends if you want to go authentic or best..

For authenicities sake it would be an HS4, the better would be to go for an HIF44, if you want to move away from SU carbs, then you're into webbers...

You can still buy them new, and Burlen is the place to look..

If you're into getting it running then the HIF44's the one to go for, first it's a 44mm ( 1.3/4" ) rather than the HS4 which is only 1.1/2"

Secondly, new one cost a pretty penny so you may be better scanning ebay...

Also do you have an inlet manifold.... Ideally you want to match the carb to that..

ooh.. ps burlen website... http://www.burlen.co.uk/

or a hif38 which is a 1 1/2" and will prob be cheaper on ebay and they are a bit easier to find i think.

i reckon a second hand one is fine.

I wouldn't even bother to get a brand new one. Just get the car running and if necessary just buy a refurb kit but i reckon yoiu might not even need that.

Post in the wanted section for a HIF 38 or 44.

You will also need a new inlet manifold if you get one of these though.

You could just ask for an HS4 because that will go straight on.

the first link is the same carb as the one we have took off our mini.

with the second one, is our mini likely to be water cooled on the manifold?

if it isnt i guess the water cooled one is useless to us?
