Hi,
I bought a new engine for my Mini back in November, and, naturally, I want to keep it clean! Winter driving has got it looking a bit grotty, so I looked for some engine cleaner and there seems to be a wealth of these available, some stronger than other.
So, does anyone have any recommendations for a decent engine cleaner to get it nice and shiny again?
Thanks,
Matt

i uses meguires de greaser, you mix it as strong or a weak as you want,
spray it on, leave it for about a minuite, scrub it with a brush, wash off with water, and repeat.
have fun, its messy

I use GUNK, only used the spray on and it does the job superbly, just remember to cover anything electrical and all holes into the engine, i use plastic bags and elastic bands. It can be messy especially lying under the car and spraying it and having all crap drip onto you lol.

If you have a compressor or access to one, then get yourself a parrafin gun (like the one below) and run a cup full of white spirit through it to blast that greasy grime away.... it's way better than anything I tried that came in a can!!

I'm one for gunk, which I also used to clean my alloys up before I resprayed them.
I used the liquid one though. Pour a bit into a tub ( the lid works lol ) and get a paintbrush and liberally brush around the engine, be generous. Use different sizes, you don't want to be doing the exposed face with a half inch brush, nor do you want to get into the nooks with a 3 inch big boy lol. Then let it do its work for 10-15 (as it says on the pack) rinse off ( or use a cloth probably best in the engine).
Repeat until You're happy with the job
