My '69 van is making a clunking noise when accelerating or decellarating or changing gear, I fitted new bushes in the top engine steady but are there ones on the gearbox too ? or could worn engine mounts cause this? .it feels like some thing has a bit play in it ,could drive shafts also cause this. ny thoughts on it please?.

have a look under the mini and check there are no more you missed, later minis do has a gear box steady at the front

also have a look at engine mounts, subframe mounts and cracks around the mounts

getting some one to bring the clutch up to almost stalling while you look for movement helps
