And as said above try phoning the insurance companies instead of getting quotes online. Try adding a parent as a named driver on the policy that should bring it down. I got my first years insurance through a broker called Peter James, try searching for them.

They say on the website it over 25's only, but this is only online.
One thing to note is that usually on classic insurance policys, you don't earn any no claims bonus.
Also they don't tend to insure any power increase's over 10%. So if you've done a lot to the engine, chances are they won't insure you on a classic policy or will bump up the premium a fair bit.

With my experience when i insured my first car a couple of years ago which at the time (and still is) a 1600cc Ford escort i paid £1800 for a year. I personally found that these young driver insurance websites are no cheaper (if not more expensive) than the main insurers like admiral, avia ect. In some cases i was quoted £15,000 believe it or not
If i was you i would look at the main insurers instead of the "specialised" insurers

That may of just been as your car isnt really a normal first car with it being a 1.6 haha so not really the type of car the young driver companies like to insure.

most will do it if you call up like footman james, HIC and adrian flux even if they won't quote you online.
Yeah im only 17, but if you ring Footman James they will deffo quote you over the phone rather than online.
My mates insured with them and hes 19, so?

Right so im getting my first car next week And i want to insure my mini straight away, Every classic site i try to find a quote on i have to be 25 or over, I know you dont have to be because the person im buying it off is 18 and shes only paying 800, And She said she knows a boy that is paying 400 and hes only 18 too but hes with some classic mini site, I dont know if you she was lying or not but thats dead cheap, So if any of you guys could hook me up with some insurance companys you know for 18 year old male drivers it would be a really really big help
Thank you
I went with a company called Lancaster (i think) for classic insurance - they were quite good and came back at £450 (im 24 with no no-claims)
Try to avoid things like insurance fronting (putting it in your mums name with you as a named driver) as insurance companies are wise to this and either wont payout or worse will invalidate your insurance.
Adrian Flux have always been helpful to me too.
In the end I got everyone in the house to changeover to an Admiral Multicar Policy and we all save a bit now.

I got a quote from Footman James at Bingley ; £660 TPFT for when I pass my test (i'm 17)
It's a lot cheaper than £4500 (the quotes I was getting for corsas etc
I got quoted just over £2k by Adrian Flux TPFT and didn't seem to helpful (was a saturday about 11am so probs on tea break) but Footman James seemed very friendly and helpful as i got £750 TPFT or double for fully with breakdown cover, etc and were happy to asnwer any questions, plus mods were ridiculously cheap such as extra £25 on excess for spotlights, etc. Also i can get fully comp on a Series 3 Landrover at £2200, cheaper than a corsa, lol
