Neon
1990/91
When I put my foot down the car jerks sometimes but also struggle to move off at times so I have to pull the choke out wondering if anyone could suggest any ideas to help ?

Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem?
I have a stage one kit on
Ported and polished head

Thanks Nigel

This all the time or just when cold?

Was the car set up properly on rolling road after stage 1 kit fitted? All fuel filter's in good condition? Air filter not blocked?

Few easy things to start Off with :)

Sounds like the fueling needs to be setup if your needing choke when pulling away

Open your bonnet and grab your engine (when cold!) and try rocking it back n forth, apart from your engine not running properly it could be your mounts aswell

As above, there is quite a few basic things you can check with the car stationery

Make sure your dashpot (big black screw at the top of the carb) is topped up aswell

You just top up the dashpot with 3-in-1 oil. It should be about 1/2" from the top when filled.
If it only runs properly with choke out it's either too lean or there is an air leak in the inlet system after the carb.

sounds a lot like my 998 mini 30, mines down to a weak spark, have you checked over the usual elec stuff, or it could be down to an incorrect fuel air mix.... use gunson color tune to check the mix
use an inline spark checker to see how poor your spark is (there are more unsafe ways such as using VDE pliers to hold a removed sparkplug against the side of the block) BUT THIS IS NOT ADVISED!!

Have you tried the above ones first? People are trying to give you the common solutions based on what your describing

If you haven't got any 3in1 oil lying about then just use normal engine that you use
