Just as it sounds above, im running the london marathon in april, and thought it would be a good idea, to film it from a runners point of view and have it live streamed to the internet so my friends could see how im doing if they cant make it, is it possible first of all and what sort of kit do i need? anyone done this before??
thanks

Im not sure how you would get the feed to the internet but if you can do that then use JustinTV to stream.

JustinTV basically allows you to live stream a video feed and anyone who has the URL can watch it

On a shoestring you could do it with a laptop, mobile wifi dongle, and a webcam.

Next step up is a few vans, satelite uplinks and more kit than you could realistically run in.

Could however just record it and then upload it later.

It's got to be easier than that! You can make video calls on a mobile phone, so it must be possible to upload to the internet! I'm on my phone typing this!

Your right it should be easier, but I cant think of a simpler (affordable) way of doing it.

You can make a video call on a mobile phone but thats a point to point thing - to stream online the video needs to be converted on the fly - thats a lot of data, a lot of bandwidth and during the run you would almost certainly use all of your monthly data allowance on your phone.

Not really feasible and probably only worth doing if you know you are going to have an audience at the time large enough to justify the cost.

The other thing is - isnt the marathon shown on tv, in high definition, with a commentary etc - I like the point of view of the runner twist, but still not sure it would need to be live.

How about a camera that takes a shot every few seconds hung round your neck, then combine all the images into a timelapse video with a good soundtrack.

yeah i think your right mate, well ive got a camera which can film and take shots too so and which will last for the 4 hours i need it to, so i'll just make a good video get some editing done and upload it after, be nice to have a momento for it. I can fix it to my waist, probably the best angle to have it at i think

thanks for your input though mate
