What sort of value do you have in mind?
James
EDIT: I put cats instead of cars, I have never sold a cat on eBay!

I've sold a few different cars on eBay and it's not too bad but if you have a value in mind I would say advertise it on here and stick a sign in the car, it's easier and cheaper and if you sell through TMF at least it should be going to a good home!

it's on here, and a few other forums for £1375ono. mechanically it's fantastic bodily it's very strong with loads of new bits for the last MOT(R Subframe, new brakes, new suspension and welding done). But it's pretty ugly some rusty bits on view and badly fitted front wing. I've had 3 semi serious lookers, one made an offer of £1100 (which is what the MOT work cost), another bought a much more expensive car at £3500 and the third wanted one with more 'yoof' appeal.
may just be a bad time to sell? don't know so thought I might try ebay id it doesn't cost too much or have too many snags.
cheers

to be honest it's one of the best places to sell. last mini i sold on there only expected to get about £4-500 for it and it went for £800

just noticed you're only down the road, drop me you number might pop over and have a look at it myself.

im hoping that last bit was a typo? lol
fleabay is a good place to buy and sell cars, although make it clear that people need to phone you before bidding or they need to get in contact within a certain time otherwise people just "forget" that they have won something and dont bother, then you have to relist it again which is hassle, and bear inmind that you may get what you want, although you also may not, depending on howmany others there are like yours on there

As for hassle, as long as you put clear rules of sale up, and that you advise all bidders to come and havea look first, then you shouldn't really have any probs.
Good luck!

only ever used auctions, never bothered with classifieds. not sure about fees as think they have changed since i last sold a car on there. have a look though as it does explain the fees on there.
be brave and start at 99p with no reserve, you will get the best price that way

...you'll get what its worth and if you think you wont, just pull the listing 26 hours before it ends!...
worst advice ever!! 99% of things i have sold on fleabay have rocketed up in the last 5 minutes. have had cars go from £100 ish and jump to £5000 in the final minutes of a sale.
from a buyers point of view i have had stuff on watch that i have planned to bid on, gets pulled due to low bids and when gets relisted i never bother bidding as chances are it will get pulled again.

i agree with anon, i'm a last minute bidder to try and get the cheapest price available instaed of bidding early and encouraging more bidders to bid..... also its true that with a low starting price you can get more of an interest and will be mare likely to get close to what you want but you also gota be prepared to loose also.... a reserve can repel prospect bidders and also entice people to bid that don't want to pay (scammers)

If the car sells for 1350 you would then be charged £27.01 as a final value fee.
If you took a £100 deposit by paypal - paypal would charge you £3.60 commission.
Reserves put buyers off (even if you set a really low one) - If you absolutely have to, tell buyers what it is.
Best offers are good - but you will get the idiots etc who offer you £30
99p auctions are great for minis - you will see no action probably for the first 5/6 days and then most of the bidding will happen in the last few minutes.
If you pull an auction in the last few hours, or minutes then you will loose out on the best bids - especially with minis many snipers will bid in the last few seconds.
I saw a guy the other night trying to cancel bids in the last 60 seconds or so of the auction so he didnt have to sell it, what he actually did was end up selling it for a lot less to a newer buyer because he couldnt cancel the bids fast enough and was effectively just taking large chunks out of the price it had acheived.

You can get time wasters but so far I've been lucky. I sold a 306 GTi-6 a few years back (when they were worth something!) - the lad who bought it came over at night and handed the cash over without even looking at it. Didn't even sit inside it let alone open the bonnet.

But eBay don't let you pull an auction if it has bids on and less that 24 hours till it ends, then you'd be stuck? Yeah it may get more bids at the end but I've usually got a fair idea with my suff by something like the 3rd day.

I would definitely recommend selling a mini on Ebay, the potential audience is absolutely massive and to be honest if your looking to buy just about anything these days, then most people will probably have a look on Ebay for it at some point. The beauty of selling something like a mini on Ebay, is that people are likely to fall in love with it and then are prepared to get sucked into a bidding war & pay over the odds for it in order to get it. Recently some very shoddy looking minis have been sold on there for absolutely ridiculous money.
As others have said make sure you have a good advert & don't bother with a reserve price as it will just put people off. Unless you are very unrealistic in your valuation then a mini will always exceed your reserve price anyway. Do make sure you put a link to your ebay ad here in the Ebay listings section on TMF though
