I am seriously considering a rebore as my local engine specialists MBE have good prices for rebore...however i do not know too much about engines, but i assume i will need some bigger pistons? they pricey? what other mods will i need to make? and would it run better on twin SUs or just a big single?

I would think the best route would be to buy a short engine from them if they do it. This would include the new pistons.

You will need to rebore to 73.5mm to achieve a 1380.
Other things worth considering to maximise the gains from the extra CCs are:

Cylinder head
Ignition system
Clutch
Exhaust
Camshaft and timing gear

Basically, with more CCs, your engine will want to suck in more air (a HIF44 would be sufficient I'd think) and blow out more exhaust. The cylinder head could be modified to allow this, as would the exhaust. The Ignition system would ensure it burnt the fuel properly and the camshaft would keep everything doing what it needs to do, at exactly the right time.

The clutch may need upgrading to cope with the extra power! :wink:

hmmm im unsure what to do now...i have been offered a 1275 but it wants rebuilding so was debating where to go with it...could do with a place that does blocks on an exhange basis? that would be awesome
