Cb And Pmr Radios

Anyone got a CB radio and have any recommendations, i am planning on purchasing one for the run to the ring this year but thought that i may as well get one now :)

You'll be better with some of the small hand held PMR radios. Most runners don't bother with CB any more but a lot of us have PMRs and the advantage of them is you can also use them when you aren't in the car. Range doesn't really matter because we tend to run in groups.

like on a mobile?

Not if it's built in and has a handset mike like a CB, but a hand held PMR you could. Most of them come with a mobile phone type hands free kit in the box though (or use a standard plug in interface), and can be set to operate on VOX (voice activated Tx) so you can leave it clipped to the dash or the door and not have to hold it.

Im going on the run and have both :D the cb i have was just a cheap one from maplins a while ago

What PMR do you recommend me getting as all the ones i find are just 2 way. :D

What do you mean just 2 way? Radios can only have 2 ways, in and out! You won't get full duplex (listen and talk at the same time) on any of them, not for the price. CBs aren't duplex anyway. These things are all either listen or speak. You can hear everyone on the same sub channel.

haha, i had a full on durrrrr moment, i thought 2 way meant 2 radio's :D

Any particular brands or radios i should look into getting or are they all as good as each other?

The pmr radios i have are cobra i believe they sell them in maplins cheaply and iv used them alot as have friends without any problems :D might be worth checking what others will be using as some makes dont work well with others.
