one of my friends has a spair engine which he thinks is a 1275 but is there any way of telling if its a 1275 or a 998 without mesuring the bores?
there was something in a mini mag i had about it but i cannot find it:(
said somthing about the waterpump?

have a look on the back of the engine, see if there are tappet covers. 998's have em, 1275's dont. check engine number for more details!

as far as im aware there are some 1275's with tappet chest covers, check the engine number, i think a 998 has 99H at the start and a 1275 has 12H at the start, i think thats it anyway but 1275's had 11 stud head or was that just a few of them? lmao

There should be a small engine number plate on the top of the block if the number starts with
85H its a 848
99H its 998
10H -1098
12H-1275
12A-1275

Simple. Above the clutch housing, 998s have one core plug, 1275s have 2.
