Model: 1000
Year: 79
Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible):
Would it be possible, even if temporarily, to use jubilee clips to secure the Y piece to the LCB? It's a Maniflow LCB/Y piece.

I doubt you'd get enough clamping force before the thread stripped. small you bolts do the trick. Found the correct clamps seemed loose even when tight, so tried you bolts and worked a treat.

stupid censor software changes it to YOU ????

You can get some great clamps from most motor factors, or some even better s/steel ones from online...do you really need to use jubilee clips?

By 'you bolts', do you mean the bits that look like a 'you' in the Minispares RC40 fitting kit that comes with part # rc40package0001? Would post a link but a PITA on my phone.

Well that's what I'm asking. I do have some 45mm/48mm/51mm you bolts (aka exhaust mounts?) but that just doesn't look right to me. Bearing in mind I am a novice.

Click here are my preferred clamps....very tough, you can get a socket/spanner on them, and they keep on going. You can get them in various sizes too...

I looked at then the other day when someone posted a link but didn't think I'd need any. I'm tempted now but just tried a 45mm exhaust clamp and that fits perfectly. I just have to have the prongs facing out diagonally so I can fit another one on... which I don't have. Not enough time to walk to the local Halfords either, let alone the auto factors.

Just thinking between Mikalpr clamps, or this one extra exhaust mount I could use. If there's no point using a jubilee clip.

You'll never get the common type 'you' exhaust clamps to fit between the two downpipes on the 'Y' piece. either buy the Mikalor clamps. Or buy the Maniflow calmps. Me personally will never use those useless things again, Mikalor every time!!

Well I've just bought 3 Mikalor clamps. I can have a spare, then. Thanks for the help.

you can get the normal type clamps to fit, if you modify them a bit, by grinding both down, works fine for me.

Or simply weld 2 hooks on and add a spring works and it's cheaper....

I have two you-clamps on my Y-piece with no problems... I got them from my local motor factors, they're smaller than the rear exhaust clamps.
