Hi all,

As the resto seems to be nearing 'completion' (for now) I am starting to look forward to actually driving my car after nigh on a years worth of ownership...

The cat n fiddle run is not too far away and thought as the car's debut drive Id take her for a spin up there.

Has anyone done it and is it worth a drive up?

Thanks

Craig

Nice road. I used to have to go to Crewe on business quite a bit and I would alsways go via the Cat n Fiddle rather than the boring M62, and going from ove rthis way you get to go through Buxton and Bakewell too, which are nice. The Cat is mostly 50mph nowadays and is very heavily policed, especially Spring/Summer weekends when there's almost a permanent helicopter presence. I actually prefer the road that forks off of the Cat road (heading west out of Buxton towards Congleton IIRC) but if you took this road you could return from Macclesfield via the Cat back to Buxton.

Definitely worth a drive, but take it easy because of the police and the dry stone walls aren't at all forgiving.

The cat n fiddle is an awesome bit of rd but due to many accidents over the yrs with speeding cars and motorbikes the is a big presence of speed cameras varying from average speed calculating cameras to to the normal gatso 1s so you have to make sure you keeps within the limits but even so it's still one of the best RCA in the uk for a proper test drive n I know myself when my mini is ready for an outing the cat n fiddle is def at the top of my list n then into buxton for some fish n chips :D)
