Hello

New to the site and to Minis, my missis is about to pass her test (fingers crossed) and she will be taking over the practical car leaving me to get myself a toy, i went through all the motions and thought about getting a car that was fast or a 4X4 but then remembered the humble Mini...

Problem is i know nothing about Minis.... enter you guys... HELP!!!

What age?
What Type?
What engine?
What interior?
Ahat accesories?

The only thing i know is i like to tinker so i dont mind getting mucky, and i have falen in love with the Zemax Mini (the grey one with green interior) but cant afford to buy it even though its just come up for sale

Depends on your budget, the older you go generally speaking the more expensive they will get.

Hi and welcome to TMF. Good luck to your other half. Will the mini be a daily driver?

Minis from the mid 90's on were the worst for corrosion. Avoid. I know as I have one!

I heard that rover mini was constructed with thinner steel bodywork so they seem to rust a lot quicker. Watch out for scuttle panels, they seem to like to collect water.

I started to mark the outlined shell of a mini for you with all the poss rusty bits marked with an X. But there would not be to much left. If i were you and you want a solid mini buy a stripped shell sort out the bad panels floors etc etc then build it up as you want it.
Then you know exactly what you are getting.

Enjoy
