hi there everyone

iv been ofered a 12g295 head which i know was originaly fitted to small bore coopers and a 266 kent camshaft to fit to my 998 87 mayfair. the mayfair is alredy fitted with a K and N cone filter. what i was woundering is would the combination of a K and N and the 12g295 head and the 266 cam allong with potentially a suitably sized RC40 exhaust work well if not at all. currently acceleration is ok up to about 30 35 but then it looses its legs what sort of BHP would you expect from it. in the future i may investigate puting a maniflow uprated maniflow exhaust and carb manifold on as well(by in the future i mean when i have enough money) i wouldnt go with twin carbs as it would be my daily drive and i dont want the bad mpg or constant alteration of the needles, but any other carb suggestions would be greatly appreciated as i am currently running a 1.5 su as originaly fitted.

cheer then all comments will be appreaciated

Should get around 55 bhp - possibly 60. If the head hasn't been skimmed it will need it... Measure the thickness of the head - and do you have flat or dished pistons?

I think you'd be better off upgrading the inlet and exhaust manifolds as well as the exhaust itself before you think about changing heads and cams.

With those three upgrades, you will have a good basis for pretty much all furthers mods you might want to do. Without a decent inlet manifold and exhaust system a new head and cam won't be used to their full potential.
