I bought a very expensive cover for my mini last year to protect it from the winter months. I have just uncover it today and to my dismay there is all mould over most of the interior inside. I have tried to clean it off with an upholstery cleaner but it has left black spots that will not come off. The mini is a Sidewalk with the tartan interior so rare to replace if I have too. On the plus side connected the battery and started first turn of the key, but the interior looks awful any ideas what I can do to remove the black spots.

Thanks pothole

Its because your mini was damp when you put it away. I'd do a thorough check under the carpets, rear bins ect to see if any rust has formed. I've stopped using my cover. I found it made my mini worse.

cover wont cause the mould - some other interior activity would have started that off :techsupport: but without air movement you've created a perfect greenhouse for it to thrive in

mould remover as mentioned above works well - and maybe a good VAX to deep clean it properly

You can by a steam cleaner that gets right into the seat an cleans all the crap out
An if you do it properly it will make them look brand new
Make sure you leave the heater on for a wile to dry them out ..
Good look

Big caravan silica gel packs are good if you're storing your car under a cover outside during winter...

Soak it up.

+1

I've got re-usable ones in the mini in her garage. Stops the condensation which leads to the dreaded tin worm!!!

This is a good idea, but even leaving tray full of cat litter in the car can a big help with absorbing moisture from the air :closed: (but if you leave the windows open do make sure that no cats can actually get in, otherwise it could be quite unpleasant if your mini is used as public convenience over the winter, by all the felines in your neighborhood!!)
