The advantage is that this method avoids the possibilities of either chemical reactions between the dipping chemicals and later the paint,
or removes the possibility of surface errossion caused by the use of sand or grit.
Some stripping chemicals have proven difficult to isolate long term , though this has tended to be more on body shells, particularly seams and joints.
and depending on the detail of the wheels some of the aris detail or accute edges can be lost if the sand blasting is done with ordinary grit meant for steel.
If you cannot find a Soda blaster then I would say bead blasting would be the prefered option.

theres a place in brum (almost in the city centre, digbeth)
who will strip then powdercoat any mini wheel (up to 16's i think) for £15 per wheel.
feck that's cheap...
I charge £10 a wheel to dip & strip then you're looking somewhere between £15 and £40 for powder coating a wheel depending upon the number or processes required... so minimum £25 a wheel + VAT

obviously the bigger the wheel the more it cost but both my uncle and a good mate have used them and said they are bang on they both had 18's and it cost them about £20 iirc,
i decided to do my wellers myself, though with the amount its cost me to do them i wouldve been better off paying this sort of price.
