Looking for a valuation on my mini rio, have listed it on ebay for £1795 and have just copied and pasted the descripton

For sale is my 1993 Rover Mini Rio. It has 66107 miles on the clock
Am selling as I can no longer afford to run 2 cars. Since owning it I have sorted all the rust areas, replaced the radiator cap, radiator hose, thermostat, fitted a new battery and alternator, a new wiper motor, I have changed the oil and replaced the clutch fluid, replaced the rocker cover gasket, exhaust gasket and head gasket and also had the head skimmed. It has speakers in the back parcel shelf and a 6 CD auto changer. The changer isn't working so may be removed but the head unit still works so that will stay so you can still use it as a radio or cassette player and a new changer could be fitted very easily. The previous owner converted the back windows to open and fitted some chrome interior trim bits for the door handles, gear knob and hand brake as well as a racing steering wheel and I have fitted a new red carpet. Also it has had an immobilizer fitted. There was some rust on the scuttle panel which I have removed and fixed up the wholes and re painted. The finish isnt perfect (see picture) as I was planning on a colour change in the future so was going to get get it looking perfect when I did that, but it would be an easy job for even a beginner to do and I will throw in the filler/paints if the buyer wants. Its completely water tight just could do with abit of a fix up. As you can tell I have put alot of work into it and will be sad to see it go. Most of the mot's and other work was all done by a mini specialist and all the reciepts are present. Tax and mot till July so ready to drive away.Located in Colchester.

just curious, how did you fix the holes in the scuttle? has it had the new corners welded in?

i would say the price is about right but unfortunatly people dont seem to know what a rio is. maybe putting in the advert that its limited edition and the last LE with carbs, not many made etc (750 i think)

Edit: and first with the larger seats

Sorry but I'm gonna have to disagree, I think £1,795 is probably a bit optimistic with the market as it currently is. The car only has around 6 months MOT (July 2011) and I'm afraid that from the photo, the scuttle looks a bit "bodged".The fact that you mention "filler" would make me even more warey, as a buyer and I would therefore be concerned at how other rust might have also been repaired. With 12 months MOT & if the repairs had been made properly (i.e with new metal welded in) then I think that a figure around £1800 might be more achievable, but as it is I'm afraid to say that around £1,200 is probably more realistic.

thats the bit i missed out ^^^ the reason i asked about how the scuttle was repaired as if its not been done properly then itll be around the 1K mark i would say.

'AVV IT', although i agree with you in a way: i wouldnt be put of by the mention of filler, it has a bad name but does have a propper use. and if used properly it will be a more professional job than if not used at all. its just a shame people use it so much to fill holes completely.

Yeh the repair doesnt look great, its was only meant to be temporary in the long run i would probably replaced the scuttle but i cant afford to carry on with it. Cheers for the advice i'll have to lower the price abit more then (gutted)

stick it on with a 99p start and no reserve and i reckon £800+ no problem. if you can get 12 months mot then £1k+ but not much over though.

Oh don't get me wrong, I do appreciate that it does have a proper use (i.e. for skim filling small dents and scratches etc.) I just meant that I would be wary of it having been used to repair areas of corrosion like it seems to have been on this guys scuttle.

I removed all the rust and used fibreglass to cover the wholes then smoothed it over with filler. I wanted to replace the scuttle but i couldnt afford it at the time so used fibreglass as a temporary messure to keep it water tight and at least look abit better (from a distance)(and squinting)
