It would probably cost quite a bit if you sent it to a repair shop. There are replacement screens on ebay for about £90, it will cost less if you fit it yourself.

How old is it, i.e did you take out warranty

I'm sure it was around £300 for a new screen when I had one sent in to Apple for a repair. I guess a genius bar would charge the same.

I thought Apple gave a 12 month warranty?

1. How long is my MacBook covered by Apple’s warranty?
Your MacBook is covered by Apple’s Limited Warranty for one year. Warranty service for eligible repairs is available at no charge for twelve months from the date of original retail purchase ("date of purchase").

Apple Care is truly worth getting though, mine's a year old but they've sorted out a lot of stuff for me, all cosmetic though.

Could well just be the screen, but Apple will charge you a good few hundred to replace (If you're not under warranty for some reason). Just pray it's not the logic board (Which I know effected a lot of iMac's in a similar way). Best bet, take it to a Genius Bar, see what they say on their diagnostics

I've got an appointment on tuesday
I was going to get the apple care but unfortunately don't have the money for it.
I keep it in a locked drawer, I think it happened when I closed the lid, when it comes to these sort of things, I get obsessive to how they are, I believe that its a manufacturing defect with it as the lid was getting a bit stiff :/

i thought with apple you would have go atleast a one year warrent as thats what i got with my hp, and didnt have to pay anything extra.

i know stuff about computer/laptops but not apples, working with any laptop taking it apart it always a fiddly job just lots of wee screws. see if you can get the correct sreen off ebay, try and get the part number of your screen, so will get the correct screen.

then if your not confident doing it yourself you will either need a mate who know what he is doing or go to a computer place to fit it. dont go anywhere near a pc world to fix your computer

it will cost a wee bit but where i use to work they had a standard labour charge of working on a laptop of i think 60quid

thats bad of apple because you pay soo much for a mac and they wont even fix it
