worth a read about the old bill and stretched tyres

*edit* can't post the link as it contains a naughty word, if you want to read it just take out the stars and replace with a horrible word for poo but make sure you ask mommy first if its ok to look at naughty words!

Here is what I believe to be your opinion more than fact

Properly OVERLY stretched tyres are prone to returning from the bead seat, however in this case it's not. It's more likely that a 165/65 10 tyre will have bead failure than the size mentioned by the OP due to the massive sidewall movement.

I do use genuine parts for safety critical areas, balljoints, bearings, CV's etc yes .
Oh and Im more competent mechanically than a main dealer

In the above quote I have not stated they are safe. Merely a situation where they would appear safer than what is already considered safe.

Service parts are items such as Oil filter, plugs, air?

And bud666, he should have appealed. There is no legal statement on tyre stretching THAT I KNOW OF and like I have mentioned I have even spoke to a copper about it in great detail.

Service items-
On my Sprint - race car so nothing genuine
My daily Mk1- yes genuine 998 Cooper air filter, recommended plugs, oil filter etc
My Mondeo - yes genuine air filter, oil/ fuel filter etc.
But this has no relevance, just to answer your question

To the OP you'll probably be ok with that little stretch, this is my opinion and I am no where near qualified to give a professional opinion.

Also, the rediculous stretched tyre look to me, looks like the person couldn't afford the correct tyres.

A friend of mine was told to take his wheel/tyre combination off his mk2 golf by the police and had to have it checked within a week by an MOT tester.

This is because he had rediculous stretched tyres on 8x13 alleycats.

Manufacturers specifications are there for a reason supposedly.....

Oh I know you're not having a pop bud666 and I have heard of people being fined for this I couldnt agree more...

#EDIT# Not agreeing on them being fined, just agreeing with your statement.

i believe that a mot fail can be as a manufacturer intended for use......... I also use oe spec if not gen parts,
1) because there is alot of copy crap that fails very quickly and sometimes fails before fitting to a car
2) as examble a fuel filters on desiel a gen oe filter will filter 2 microns where as a copy filter will only gtee to filter 10 microns, trouble is euro 4 engines the injector is 10 microns. spot the problem.

Off topic I know but...
With most Stratified injection diesel engines now, the OE spec filter isnt even up to the correct spec required for the injectors.
Straight from a Tutor at Vauxhall's Luton based college when talking about the requirements of the new A20DTH engine in the Insignias...

Probably going to open a can of worms here, BUT

Does anybody know of a situation that 165 wheels on a 7j Wheel have ever actually came off of the bead or caused any problems/accident?

Ive seen a whole garage of men laugh at a guys car for having streched tires

watching the car slide as the tires slid of the rims was pretty funny
