i want to remove the cat from my shiny new 1996 sidewalk, as the hills and bumps around don't really seem to like the cat on the car, and i'd prefer not to rip it off! i understand that it would need to go back on for the mot, but what do i need for the inbetween times!?
I would have preffered not to touch it really but it'd be a very expensive scrape to rip that thing off!

I apologise for the fact that this comment will not help you in the slightest...
however
I smiled at how well your quote would work if, instead of meaning catalytic converter, you were actually having trouble getting shot of a troublesome moggie...
