Anybody got a decent assorted set of nuts and bolts in imperial size? Im sick of hunting round the garage for such things. Just want a decent mixture but good quality ones.

So If you've got a set, where did you get it?

Cheers.

Your far better off going to somwhere like tool station or screwfix, you can get a few bags full in Stainless Steel for the price companies charge at some of these mini shows...

MRA's post: Are You Using Sub Standard Bolts In Your Engine ?, poor quality bolts is a good place to start when looking at nuts and bolts.

I used to use a shop that manufactured all nuts/bolts/washers in stainless to lots of different standards and they were brilliant. Unfortunately demand wasn't high enough so they shut down. :)

There are loads of people at kit car etc shows, and these are just one of the company's I have bought from: BoltMeUp

Imperial fixings at Screwfix? :) The grade of stainless you can get at places like that, and incidentally at a lot of the shows, is very brittle and nowhere near as strong as what you are replacing in most cases.

I am pretty sure that screwfix and toolstation only sell nuts and bolts in metric sizes/threads. You need to use a specialist who deals with classics. Try Namrick.co.uk.

There's nothing up with toolstation or screwfix if you just need some generic nuts 'n bolts to use together, but for anything that is size critical, or threads in to components you may as well use Minispares etc. Not only will they be the right grade, but also have the right length of shank & thread.

A2stainless.co.uk look good - but I'd only use stainless in low stressed applications - thermostat housing, timing cover...

Namrick for me every time. I've been buying my UNF, UNC and even metric for my non-Minis from them for years.
If you get their plated 450 piece UNF bag that's a really good start, then you'll need a few 5/16" UNC bolts and screws, but probably not UNC nuts, to go into the aluminium Mini gearbox and transfer case areas.
